ACKSHUALLY, Tolkien Loved Allegories (ft. Michael Jahosky)

Professor and Tolkien scholar, Michael Jahosky, joins me on the show to discuss his book, The Good News of the Return of the King: The Gospel in Middle Earth. We talk about myth, parables, fairy stories and allegories and what they have to do with The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion. Michael is also the host of the Mythic Mission podcast where he explores the intersection of myth and various disciplines of the Humanities from a Christian perspective with J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.  Michael Jahosky's Book/Website The Good News of the Return of the King: https://www.amazon.com/Good-News-Return-King-Middle-earth/dp/1725263165/ref=sr_1_1?crid=WF6SI9DWX667&keywords=michael+jahosky&qid=1652531342&s=books&sprefix=michael+jaho%2Cstripbooks%2C310&sr=1-1 Mythic Mission: https://lastdunadancom.wordpress.com ************************************************************************************************************* Follow me on Twitter @AaronIrber Donate to my Patreon - I Might Believe in Faeries https://www.patreon.com/imightbelieveinfaeries Like my Facebook page - I Might Believe in Faeries Battle Of The Creek by Alexander Nakarada | https://www.serpentsoundstudios.com Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Logo Art by Linnea Kisby ************************************************************************************************************* Books Mentioned  The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion - J.R.R. I Might Believe in Faeries
This is a podcast about stories, myths and Catholicism. Stories are how we orient ourselves in the world. In Catholicism, we believe in the Greatest Story: Christ crucified and resurrected. We participate in His story through ritual worship; the liturgy. Even in the Catholic Church, these truths are often forgotten or ignored. My mission for this podcast is to explore storytelling, myths, and how these fit into Catholicism. I will cover Catholic fantasy and science fiction authors, mythology, folklore and the Catholic faith.
