Hello! It has been a few months since my last post. I have received a large number of new subscribers, so thank you all for signing up!
I want to take a bit of time to announce my newest endeavor. First, some tying up of loose ends.
I am not going to continue on with the IMBIF Book Club for the foreseeable future. I know some people really enjoyed those discussions, but it was too difficult to coordinate with everyone involved to make sure people could participate. I know we have one more book to discuss, Poul Anderson’s The Broken Sword. I still plan on discussing that one, but it will need to wait until the summer after baby number 5 arrives in a week or so.
The Cauldron of Story series will need to take a break as well. I do want to continue this one for paid subscribers, but I want to wait a bit until I hear back from someone concerning fairy tales and other stories. Hopefully, that will come back bigger and cooler than I ever anticipated, but we will see what happens. Also, the same coordination issues came up, and it was too difficult to continue for the time being.
However, I have two new announcements.
First, I am going to start uploading my old podcast episodes to YouTube and Substack. Substack has up to 2023 already in here but I am going to figure out how to add the rest and any new episodes on here as well. As for YouTube, I am going to add episodes starting with the oldest and going to the newest, one at a time.
Second, I am starting a new project where I dive into the symbolism of the various animals in medieval bestiaries. I am calling it The Medieval Bestiary Project.
Most episodes will be for paid subscribers on Substack but I will occasionally release one for the general public. I have the first four scripts written and they are a ton of fun. They will include stories that portray the creatures such as in Scripture, Aesop’s Fables, Ovid, Homer, Saint’s lives, etc. and I will attempt to explain the symbolism associated with each animal.
I will include images from medieval manuscripts as well!
I have a YouTube video explaining the project here:
It was also released as a new episode of I Might Believe in Faeries.
The podcast will continue as normal! Thank you all for reading and God bless.
Arron, I'm glad to see that you’re back in business! Modern medical treatment has kept the convergence of several dark stars from finishing me and my 84 years off on this world. Today was the first day that I woke up feeling normal since some time in April. Summer for the last book club on Poul Anderson would be a great time to go Viking!
