Hey everyone! It has been a few weeks since I provided an “updates” post. I am recovering from being sick (again), so my brain is still a little fried. Hopefully, I can string enough coherent sentences together for this post!
IMBIF Book Club - A Canticle for Leibowitz
The next book in for the IMBIF Book Club will be A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Miller Jr. Set after a nuclear holocaust, A Canticle is about an order of Catholic monks who preserve information and technology in a culture hostile to both. Considered a classic work of science fiction, A Canticle is a novel that is worth rereading.
I am hoping to have this discussion sometime the week of August 5, 2024.
Perelandra by C. S. Lewis
Andrew Snyder and will continue our discussion of C. S. Lewis’ “Ransom Trilogy” with the next book being Perelandra. I plan on having the Perelandra episode come out July 15 and then followed by That Hideous Strength in August.
Speaking of Perelandra, I plan on (so many plans), writing another essay comparing The Ransom Trilogy with E. R. Burroughs’ John Cater stories, specifically comparing The Green Lady with Dejah Thoris.
Well, hopefully that was short, sweet and to the point. Have a happy 4th of July!
Enjoyed my reread. I followed your advice from our book club on Eifelheim; do you remember what advice you gave?
