This will be a very brief update post.
This past weekend, my son and I went camping with our local Troops of St. George group. We had a blast, and I highly encourage any dad to look into joining the Troops of St. George. Their website is here. They even have a nifty “Find a Troop” tab that tells you if there are any groups nearby. It has every virtue found in The (formerly known as) Boy Scouts of America, with the added benefit of being deeply Catholic. The last night we were there, we took the rain fly off the tent and we could see the stars as we fell asleep.
Speaking of Catholic things, I need to push the discussion of A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Miller Jr. to the last week of August, 2024. I am thinking we discuss the book in the evening, 08:30 pm Central Time, of Tuesday, August 27, 2024 and have the episode come out August 31.
As always, participation in the discussion is for paid subscribers to this substack as well as anyone who is still a paid Patreon subscriber. I don’t think there are many of those left since they transfered to substack. The episode will be available for everyone’s listening pleasure, regardless of their paid or free status.
God bless!
I’ve heard a bit about Troops of St George. Very glad to hear it lives up to the hype. I had a great time in scouts and don’t know who I’d be today without it, even though I was in during the waning years, and I’ve wondered what I could possibly do to fill that gap for any sons I may have someday. Good to know St George is an option. Praying it keeps growing and remains a blessing for you guys
